The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has reported that the state of Texas has just hit a record high for electriicty produced by wind turbines.
ERCOT says 17,920 megawatts were produced on Monday at 3:32PM. This record made up for 40 percent of the power generated in the territory.
Places with overwhelming numbers of wind turbines, such as the San Angelo and Lubbock areas, recorded speeds of up to 20 mph.
The previous record was set last February, and the total megawatts produced was 17,542. ERCOT runs 90 percent of the Texas power demand in Texas.
The record for wind energy produced did not beat the record for percent of power generated.
The record was 15,408 megawatts of wind generation that made up more than 54 percent of power and was set in October 2017.
