Some industries have reported that they have not seen any relief from the Energy Bill Relief Scheme but instead higher energy bills.
Industries such as the hospitality sector in particular pubs and bars have not seen much relief from the current scheme. This has led the British Beer and Pub Association to request an inquiry from the Treasury and business select committee into the energy sector.
When introduced this support was supposed to help businesses. The pub sector has reported many cases of price hikes and poor practice which has meant that government support has had very little impact.
Regulations for this sector say higher energy bills are one of the main reasons for the closure of these businesses.
