Switch energy suppliers

Many businesses have stopped switching energy suppliers since the energy crisis began. This is mostly due to the lack of incentives when it comes to switching because of higher prices. Switching activity in 2022 was 62% lower than it was a decade ago in 2013.

Companies have said they are more focused on saving money by staying where they are and renewing energy contracts instead of shopping around and going through the switching process.

However, by doing these businesses could be missing out on huge savings. Your business should be comparing energy prices and deciding when the best time to switch is to ensure you are getting the cheapest deal available.

We understand with huge pressures being put on businesses not only from energy bills but inflation, you probably don’t have the time to be shopping around for better energy deals. At Resolve Energy we have a team of energy consultants with expert insight into the energy market, we will be able to see exactly when the best time for your business to switch their energy contracts will be.

Improve energy efficiency practices

Improving energy efficiency will help to reduce your consumption. Most businesses waste over 30% of the energy they use by not maximising consumption. There are many areas of your office or building you can implement energy-saving practices. The easiest ways to start doing this are through lighting, heating, and office equipment.

Lighting

Lighting in your business could be one of the biggest electricity consumers. Lights are often forgotten about and can waste a lot more power than you would expect. If you are not using LED lighting, you could also be wasting up to 75% more power than those who are. You should also consider switching to automatic lighting to prevent them from being left on whilst not in use.

Heating

You should control the heating in your building with a thermostat to always allow for perfect working temperatures. You could even consider a smart thermostat that turns the heat on and off in intervals to keep the office at a nice temperature all day, preventing heat from being wasted.

Another way you can prevent heat from being wasted is through insulation. If your business does not have the proper insulation, then you are going to have to keep the heating on for much longer, wasting more energy.

Office equipment

Office equipment will take up a lot of your electricity usage. There is not much you can do about usage when it comes to equipment as you need this to work, however, you can encourage employees to ensure equipment is off when it is not in use and is never left on after working hours.

Include employees

Making sure that you include your employees in your energy efficiency plans in 2023 is going to determine whether energy-saving plans are a success.

If employees are unaware of the benefits of energy-saving programs, they are not going to have the motivation or drive to help the business implement them.

You should consider Increasing employee awareness of the cost of energy and how the company could be adding back to its bottom line by saving more money.

Also, motivate the team by Introducing employee incentives such as rewards for the department or employee that involves themselves the most when it comes to energy efficiency.

Involving employees makes them feel as though they are working for a company with good morals and ethos and allows them to feel as if they are contributing to something positive for the world, which could increase motivation to work.

Invest in renewable technology.

Although you must spend more at first when investing in renewable technology the savings you can make from this type of infrastructure can completely reduce your overhead spending and add more to your bottom line.

Solar panels

Investing in solar panels can reduce your power consumption by up to 60% as your business will be generating its own electricity instead of relying on the grid. See more here.

Voltage Optimisation

Voltage optimisers reduce the amount of electricity that powers your equipment to the optimal amount of voltage for it to work. This reduces the amount of electricity wasted by your business and can reduce bills by up to 19%. See more here.

Heat pumps

Heat pumps use electricity to generate heat instead of relying on a gas boiler. This way your business can reduce gas consumption by up to 26%.
