Total Energies has a new LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) deal that has been said to be the world’s biggest development in LNG ever.
The energy supplier is joining Qatar Energy in this venture, where they are expected to increase Qatar’s LNG capacity from 77 million tonnes per year to 110 million tonnes per year by 2027.
This development can massively help in terms of getting countries that still primarily depend on coal to switch to gas. Natural gas and LNG are two of the biggest components of reducing the number of fossil fuels used for energy. The North Field expansion will be a major contribution to a low-carbon LNG growth strategy.
Qatar Energy has been planning this development since 2019 when they first launched the £23.4bn North Field East expansion. This is a massive achievement that will not only ensure that natural resources are being utilized but will provide clean energy for the rest of the world to replace fossil fuels that continue to damage our climate.
